Dr Govind Bhattacharjee
Dr Govind Bhattacharjee, a retired officer of the Indian Audit and Accounts Service and a former Director General at the Office of the Comptroller & Auditor General (C&AG) of India, New Delhi, is currently a Professor of Practice at the Arun Jaitley National Institute of Financial Management, an autonomous institution under the Ministry of Finance where he teaches Public Finance and Public Policy.
During his career spanning over three decades, he has served in various capacities in India and abroad, including a four-year tenure as Tax Advisor to a foreign government, besides several short-term assignments with the United Nations in New York, and the World Food Programme at Rome. He also headed the international training institution of the C&AG of India from 2011 to 2013 and was a part of international efforts for the evolution of a standardised performance measurement framework for public audit institutions in different countries.
After retiring from civil service and before joining his present assignment, he also served as a Professor of Economics at the Centre for Economic Policy and Public Finance at the Asian Development and Research Institute, Patna, and then Professor of Applied Economics at the Indian Institute of Public Administration, New Delhi. Presently, he is also a visiting faculty at the Indian Institute of Management, Calcutta, and a Visiting Senior Fellow at the Centre for Multilevel Federalism, Institute of Social Sciences, New Delhi.
Dr. Bhattacharjee is a prolific writer and a regular columnist in several national newspapers with versatile interests in diverse areas. He has so far published 10 books on various subjects and authored more than 50 research articles in national and international academic journals and edited volumes.
