MR. SANJAY BHASIN

Sanjay Bhasin is a graduate of Electronics and Communications Engineering from IIT Roorkee and holds an MBA from Santa Clara University, Santa Clara, USA.

He is currently Chief Operating Officer of solar energy company YouSolar Inc. (http://yousolar.com/). Sanjay has global corporate experience of working in information technology (IT), telecom and solar industries for over 30 years. He has lived and worked in India, USA, Finland, England and Indonesia.

Sanjay has been leading a fight against real estate giant DLF since 2010. Due to this work, DLF was held contravening the Competition Act in Competition Commission of India. It has also led to a landmark judgment where DLF was fined Rs 630 crore. A lot of work done during the case, particularly related to a balanced contract between the consumer and real estate companies, led to several important clauses in The Real Estate (Regulation and Development) Act, 2016. This paved the way for a more balanced real estate market in India.

Sanjay is a trustee of Action Centre of Smart & Broadband Bharat (applying technology to solve issues in rural India) and Binti UK – India Chapter (contributing to women empowerment). He is passionate about contributing to nation building activities, particularly in areas related to poverty eradication, detecting and exposing corruption through whistleblowing, cleansing politics and governance. He is equally enthusiastic about contributing towards a more equitable and humane society, the application of technology to solve real world problems and environment.
